Denver is also famous for its steakhouses and for good reason.  The city of Denver used to be one of the largest exporters of beef in the entire country.  The city of Denver has expanded on this phenomenon by adding more gamy meats to their menu that are native to the state of Colorado.  Most upscale dining establishments serve elk, quail, buffalo, and deer.  In addition to steak, Colorado is also famous for its beer. Denver has become known as a beer town with numerous microbreweries and playing host to the annual Great American Beer Festival. While you can get good ale to wash down any meal, what’s more fun is to eat your beer. Many brewing companies and the Breckenridge Brewery have added beer to the menu by adding beer to everything from barbeque sauce to desserts.
Denver restaurants have also started to use some of the freshest ingredients available by using many local farmers’s markets, such as the Cherry Creek Fresh Market and the Boulder Farmers’s Market.  This not only ensures that the restaurants can get the fresh ingredients they need on a moment’s notice, but it also boosts the local economy by purchasing from local vendors.
Denver has also expanded on its steak and potatoes reputation and added many ethnic restaurants in recent years. On South Pearl Street, don’t miss terrific sushi at Sushi Den, in downtown Denver there is authentic country Japanese food at Domo, west of downtown Denver around Federal Boulevard there are a number of Vietnamese restaurants and Thai eateries with excellent spicy noodles and east of downtown Denver there are Middle Eastern places like the House of Kabob.
With the weather in Denver being beautiful year round minus the occasional blizzards in the winter time, chances are you’ll be doing a lot of walking or cycling around Denver to see the sights or just enjoy the thin, crisp air and abundant sunshine. When you need a quick bite, you can find something that will fill you up in just about every Denver neighborhood.  In Highlands, hit La Casita for breakfast tamales, on South Broadway it’s all about the smothered burrito at Senor Burrito, in downtown go to Cook’s Fresh Market for sandwiches, salad or soup and a little people-watching next to the huge windows, in uptown try Marczyk Fine Foods for a fine sandwich with the freshest ingredients.
Denver has grown from a farming city to a bustling metropolis and with that growth there are many chain restaurants that have made their home in the capital city of the Rocky Mountain state.  Some of the larger chains have restaurants in every neighborhood that people can go into and fill their stomachs quickly.  With more and more restaurants coming to the Denver area, the dining scene becomes more expansive by the day.
